Pizza Base

Easy pizza dough/base recipe to follow. Once you make it at home, you won't go back to store-bought pizza bases. Kids can be a great helping hand in making the dough. Adding pizza toppings of your choice is a bonus.

INGREDIENTS
  • 250 ml Water lukewarm

  • 7 cups Plain flour

  • 5 tsp Oil

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1/2 tsp Sugar

  • 1 sachet Dry yeast 7 gms (1 gms per cup of plain flour)

INSTRUCTIONS

BASE

  1. Take Lukewarm water (not hot water or else yeast won't rise).

  2. Sprinkle in yeast, Sugar, salt, oil and 1 cup of plain flour in lukewarm water and mix well.

  3. Cover it and let it stand for 10 mins. The mixture will turn frothy and you will see bubbles forming and rising to the top.

  4. Mix this yeast mixture in to remaining 6 cups of flour.

  5. Knead the mixture until soft dough is formed. Add more lukewarm water to the dough if the dough is not soft enough. The dough consistency should be very soft. Almost sticky but not too sticky that it gets difficult to handle.

  6. When dough is smooth, knead it into a large ball. Place it in 3 times bigger container and brush oil all over the dough.

  7. Cover the vessel not the dough with warm damp tea towel or muslin cloth. Place the container in a warm place and let it rest for 1 hour.

  8. After an hour take off the tea towel. You will see the dough has risen.

  9. Knead the dough again breaking all the bubbles that were formed. You will notice that the dough falls back to its original size. That is perfectly fine.

  10. Knead well and repeat the step 6 and 7 but let it rest for 30 mins this time.

  11. Dough will rise again. Knead again and cut it into pizza base size balls

  12. Roll each ball. Use dry flour if required and place it on the baking tray.


TOPPINGS

  1. Chop veggies of choice

  2. Spread pizza sauce over the rolled pizza base. Sprinkle mozzarella grated cheese and add your desired pizza toppings.

  3. Sprinkle crushed salt and black pepper.


COOKING

  1. Bake it in preheated oven at 300°C till base rises and turns crispy. For me it takes about 10 to 15 mins. Since all ovens are different and pizza size also varies, so the timing is approx. Keep checking until the pizza is baked to your liking.

  2. Lastly, enjoy.

NOTES
  • Make sure water is lukewarm, hot water will kill the yeast and dough will not proove
